About Me

When it comes to your career, I believe that what brings you joy on the inside, will allow you to shine on the outside. My name is Dorian, and I am here to assist you in identifying that joy, so you can shine! As a professional woman who has experienced career highs and lows in the fast-paced, competitive city of Washington, D.C., I’ve learned that who you know and what you can get you far, but knowing yourself can get you further. Mentors have been an integral part of my professional journey, which is why I am passionate about lending a hand to women like you. Since earning an MPA degree (concentration in Nonprofit Management) from Rutgers University, my career has revolved around public service and community engagement. Currently, I manage advocacy correspondence, social media engagement, and legislative outreach for a network of over 100,000 community health advocates at the National Association of Community Health Centers. When I’m not traveling or speaking at conferences on healthcare policy, I produce content for my blog, The DW Blog (how fitting). I am also an active community volunteer. As an Career Contessa Mentor, I am here to guide you as you break into the nonprofit world. I am more than happy to assist you with the following: - Learning more about nonprofit career paths and organizations - Developing your personal and professional brand - Reviewing resume content - Identifying contacts in the industry - Service Learning - Networking opportunities - Choosing the right organization My colleagues say I don’t mince words, and I have to agree. If you are looking for someone to tell it like it is, I am your woman! Together, we can create an action plan to tackle your goals and assist you with navigating the many scenarios (good and bad) that can arise in the public service sector.

Lift as you climb.

Reviews

"Dorian is one of the most inspiring people I have talked to! She is selfless and caring and is willing to help you in any she can. She will talk you through setting out goals, navigating new job and internship opportunities and provide constructive criticism to ensure development in your career. Dorian is easy to talk to which makes the mentor/mentee relationship feel like a breeze. With her own amazing experiences, she uses that to guide others but also teaches, collaborates and generates new ideas for the unique person’s interests. Dorian is a great mentor and someone you want to get to know! "
