Job Summary and Description 

Lansing Community College, founded in 1957, is the fifth-largest community college in Michigan, serving nearly 12,000 students last fall and more than 9,000 corporate training and workforce development participants last year.  The college offers more than 1,000 courses each year in career-and transfer-focused education, workforce development, and community education.

Lansing Community College is seeking a Market Research Analyst that will support the institution by providing insight into regional and national labor market data to inform program reviews, develop academic master plans, and support strategic planning activities.                       

This position is ideal for candidates interested in employing their analytical skills and expertise to improve the prosperity of their community. Prior experience in higher education is helpful but not required.

This position will work with Academic Affairs, the academic deans, associate deans, and directly with academic programs to identify growth areas for program development and investment.  The analyst will collaborate with all areas of the college and provide careful analysis of economic data from various sources (proprietary, state, and federal), program/division improvement plans, program review data, community surveys, and other data sources to recommend and justify program development or modification strategies. In addition, this position will lead and facilitate workgroups, brainstorming sessions, focus groups, environmental scanning activities, and policy/process review. 

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrated experience in leading projects from conception to completion;
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection and statistical analysis;
  • Prior experience using data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., SAS, Tableau, SQL, R, Python, SPSS, etc.)
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in statistics, data analytics, economics or similar
  • Experience with voice of customer (VOC) analysis
  • Familiar with EMSI Analyst, familiar with BLS data
  • Program review experience
  • Workforce development experience, or business incubator experience, or similar
  • Experience with organizational innovation
